Optimism leads to optimality: Ambiguity in network formation
BATEG salle EPE (204-205) + visio
Nous avons le plaisir de vous annoncer la tenue d’un séminaire animé par Ani Guerdjikova, professeur au GAEL et Peter Bayer chercheur en contrat post-doctoral à TSE jeudi 1er octobre 2020 à 14 heures.
Titre de la présentation : Optimism leads to optimality: Ambiguity in network formation.
Résumé :
We analyze a model of endogenous network formation where players are affected by uncertainty about their opponents’ decisions. We model this uncertainty using the notion of Equilibrium under Ambiguity (Eichberger and Kelsey, 2014). Unlike the set of Nash equi-libria, the set of equilibria under ambiguity does not always include grossly underconnectedand thus inefficient networks such as the empty network. On the other hand, it may include networks with unreciprocated, one-way links, which comes with an efficiency loss as linking efforts are costly. We characterize equilibria under ambiguity and provide conditions under which increased player optimism comes with an increase in efficiency in equilibrium. Next, we analyze the dynamic situation with one-sided, myopic updating. Under a best-response dynamic with optimistic shocks, the game converges to a set of networks which maximizes social benefits in the set of equilibria and all players are linked to their most favored opponents, if such a network exists.
Le séminaire aura lieu au BATEG, en salle EPE (204-205) en respectant les règles sanitaires.
