Titre de sa présentation : Are people conditionally parochial? Eliciting cooperative strategies in intergroup conflict, article co-écrit avec Guillaume Cheikbossian, Dimitri Dubois et Antoine Pietri.

Résumé :
Previous research indicates that most people condition their cooperation based on the cooperative behaviors of others. Yet, in many contexts, ingroup cooperation is embedded within an intergroup conflict. In such cases, do people condition their cooperation on the behaviors of ingroup and/or outgroup members? The present study adapts the strategy method for eliciting individual cooperative strategies in intergroup conflict situations. In an Intergroup Prisoner's Dilemma (IPD), participants decide their contributions based on the average level of contributions from (i) other ingroup members and (ii) outgroup members. This allows us to distinguish between non-cooperators, unconditional cooperators, and ingroup and/or outgroup conditional cooperators. Using a within-subjects design, we compare these profiles with those in a conflict-free setting (standard PD). Finally, we check the relevance of our experimental tool by comparing profiles among natural groups.
