Titre de sa présentation : To be or to suffer? The role of sacred beliefs in the locking out of farm structural investment.
Résumé :
While concerns about farmers’ mental health have risen, the role of farm structure is only discussed recently. In this article an interdisciplinary conceptual framework is designed to assess the impact of farm structural rigidities on farmers’ mental health. The institutionalist approach aims to integrate the concepts of sacred, borrowed to anthropology, and cognitive dissonances, borrowed to psychology. The interviews of 41 urban-influenced farmers rely on the design of their investment decision-making mental models. Results corroborate that the acceptation of the current agricultural sector has solved cognitive dissonances which may be reactivated by the many diverging demands faced by farmers.
Le séminaire a lieu à 13h30 en salle 227.
