Master's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science applied to the Humanities and Social Sciences (MIASHS)

 

Presentation and objectives

The two-year MIASHS "Business and Data Analyst" master's degree at Université Grenoble Alpes trains specialists who understand the challenges of the digital transformation of our societies, and have an economic analysis grid for understanding, studying and adding value to data.

The course aims to:

  • master data reading, visualization and analysis ;
  • transform data into strategic information that can be leveraged by decision-makers;
  • understand the economic challenges of digital, AI and Big Data;
  • master specialized software (R, Python, Analyzer, Google Analytics).

The Master's program is built around two core skills: a solid technical grounding in data analysis (statistical and econometric methods, data processing and visualization) and the economic analysis of markets from the standpoint of corporate strategies and consumer behavior (in particular, personal data markets, economic issues in the digital world). Fundamental skills are acquired in the first year, and are further developed in the second. Students also benefit from professional English courses in M1 and M2.
In the MIASHS Business and Data Analyst master's program, professionalization is ensured by: internships in M1 (2 to 4 months) and M2 (4 to 6 months), work-study programs in M2 (professional and/or apprenticeship contracts), the participation of professionals in teaching, and work on tutored projects in M1 and M2 (the subjects of which are provided by our professional partners). In addition, students wishing to go into research can take part in training modules at the UGA Graduate School (FuturProd thematic program on digital issues).
Graduates of the Master's program work as Data Analysts, Business Analysts, Data Scientists, Pricing Analysts, Economic and/or Statistical Researchers, in traditional or high-tech manufacturing or service companies, in data performance firms, in independent administrative authorities, etc. More information (program, application, etc.) is available in the Université Grenoble-Alpes training catalog.
